Art is one of my greatest passions. The museum, to me, is a place of calm, of beauty, of discovery and of knowledge. I enjoy taking time to go and visit a museum, see a special exhibition or discover a gallery. I try to experience every artwork and take in its incomparable energy. I make sure to fit one museum visit into my plans, every time I discover a new city or am on holiday. I make sure to appreciate the hanging and general presentation of the artworks in the exhibition space as much as the pieces themselves. A lot of thought goes into the composition of an exhibition and taking into account a whole room, even exhibition, the particular order of the artworks, the way they are put together, grouped, presented etc. can speak a lot about the curators intention, can raise questions or put an artwork into a new, maybe unprecedented context, that creates different perspectives, generates new meaning and sparks ideas.
Other than looking at art in exhibition spaces, I have also already started my own collection of a few prints and drawings that I proudly display in my home.
Gerhard Richter - Museum Folkwang - Breathtaking! Besides focusing on Richter's prints, editions and sequences, the exhibition displayed four tapestries that were just stunning. A marvelous show of a fascinating contemporary artist.
Dox, Prague - A hidden gem away from the touristy Prague city centre. Amazing architecture and exciting contemporary Czech and international artists on view.
